Crocheted Chocolate Cake with Life Savers

12 Jul
Well, July 12 is here, and time for another one of my original patterns as promised.  Sorry I am posting this so late in the day, but I literally just finished it.

I designed this cake for 4 very special people.  It is for our second daughter, and our grandson who both share a birthday later this month.  And is a tribute to my sweet Auntie who passed away at the end of June, and her grandson who is celebrating his b-day this week.  She was way too young to have to have left us…only 56…and she was such a sweet and caring person…who did everything for everyone.

When I was a teenager she made me a cake most years for my b-day, just to name one out of many, many things she did for and with me…so I thought I’d try to replicate one of the unique ones she made for me…and that is why this pattern has come to be.  She made a chocolate cake with wintergreen Life Savers all over it, so I thought that would be a fun one to create.

R.I.P Auntie and Happy birthday to our 3 special July b-day babies!  This one is for all of you!

And if this is your b-day month…Happy Birthday to you, too!

Thought you’d like to see a pic of this one. 😉

Materials Needed:
I used warm brown and white WW 4 ply yarn, and an “I” crochet hook, and a “C” hook.  But I am thinking you could use whatever color you like, and if you want to use a different type of yarn, just choose the correct size crochet hooks for the yarn you have chosen to use.
